House of guard in Sh3m theft case raided – court told

A court in Meru has heard that sup­port­ers of Tharaka Nithi Deputy Gov­er­nor Eliud Mate al­legedly stole Sh80,000 from the house of his body­guard Josh­phat Kipye­gon. Kipye­gon has been charged with rob­bing Mate of Sh3.2 mil­lion. Lawyer Kio­gora Mugambi said Kipye­gon’s house is in Mate’s com­pound. It had been ran­sacked and money stolen. Rose Ka­jira, Kipye­gon’s com­pan­ion, is also ac­cused of han­dling stolen prop­erty. The two ap­peared be­fore prin­ci­pal mag­is­trate Stella Abuya and de­nied the charges.
