Three new faces drafted in Burk­ina Faso bound side

BY AGNES MAKHANDIA/ Three new play­ers have been drafted into the 15-mem­ber squad that de­parts to­mor­row night for 38th edi­tion of the Africa hand­ball Club Cham­pi­onship start­ing on Fri­day in Oua­gadougou, Burk­ina Faso.

The three play­ers are newly-signed Anna Ve­nessa from Ger­many, left back Val­larie Ad­hi­ambo and right winger Alex­ina Am­bani. Speak­ing at Nyayo Sta­dium yes­ter­day after the morn­ing train­ing ses­sion, coach Jack Ochieng said the three play­ers have been im­pres­sive. Ochieng said the re­main­ing 12 play­ers have fea­tured in the pre­vi­ous events and with a mix of the new­com­ers and reg­u­lars, the side should be able to ruf­fle few feathers in the event, which ends on Oc­to­ber 27. Nairobi Wa­ter have been drawn in Pool B along­side Primero (An­gola), TKC (Cameroon) and Band ama HBU (Cote d’ Ivoire) .

Com­ment­ing on the pool­ing, Ochieng, said he was un­fazed but was quick to sin­gle out Primero, who he said most of their play­ers were part of the na­tional team that fea­tured in the Rio Olympic Games in Brazil last Au­gust.
