Last month, it emerged Cord agreed to reg­is­ter a ‘cor­po­rate’ Cord Party, al­low­ing af­fil­i­ates to re­tain their in­di­vid­ual iden­ti­ties, field can­di­dates on their tick­ets in some ar­eas and un­der the Cord ticket in oth­ers. The um­brella strat­egy aims to im­prove op­po­si­tion chances of vic­tory next year against the mas­sive Ju­bilee Party ma­chine — re­cently formed by the merger of af­fil­i­ates. CP aims to strengthen Cord, keep it to­gether. It is likely to re­sem­ble Narc, which re­moved Kanu from power in 2002.
