GOVER­NOR DE­NIES MAK­ING INCITEFUL SPEECH

In Au­gust, Ki­ambu Gover­nor Wil­liam Kabogo was charged with eth­nic con­tempt in re­la­tion to ut­ter­ances he made against Cord leader Raila Odinga. Kabogo was ac­cused of is­su­ing a state­ment last year meant to in­cite feel­ings of ha­tred against com­mu­ni­ties that do not em­brace male cir­cum­ci­sion. The gover­nor de­nied the charges be­fore Mil­i­mani se­nior prin­ci­pal mag­is­trate Martha Mu­tuku and was freed on Sh500,000 bond with the op­tion of Sh200,000 bail.
