SGR will boost busi­ness, cre­ate jobs, says MYWO

Maen­deleo Ya Wanawake Naivasha branch has wel­comed the ex­ten­sion of the stan­dard gauge rail­way to the lake­side town, say­ing it will boost busi­ness and cre­ate jobs. Chair­per­son Es­ther Nyok­abi hit out at those op­posed to the rail­way, say­ing they are a hin­drance to the im­ple­men­ta­tion of the Ju­bilee man­i­festo. Nyok­abi said they are fully be­hind the project. She said women will ben­e­fit a lot from the rail­way. “We want more projects to be im­ple­mented in Naivasha,” Nyok­abi said. She spoke dur­ing a lead­ers’ meet­ing on busi­ness op­por­tu­ni­ties for women and other clas­si­fied groups at the Naivasha county assem­bly cham­bers. The meet­ing was or­gan­ised by lo­cal Ju­bilee Party in­terim of­fi­cials. It brought to­gether more than 300 lead­ers. Nakuru county Ju­bilee co­or­di­na­tor James Karimi at­tended the event and urged party sup­port­ers to shun vi­o­lence.
