30,000 national IDs in Meru uncollected
Meru county commissioner Wilfred Nyagwanga has said more than 30,000 IDs have not been collected from chiefs’ and registrars’ offices. “If you don’t have an ID, you are not a Kenyan and you may be vetted to ascertain if you belong to al Shabaab,” he said. Speaking during the Mashujaa Day celebrations at the Meru Technical Training Institute on Thursday, Nyagwanga said the IDs will be distributed to the owners so they register as voters. Nyagwanga warned herders from the neighboring Isiolo and Samburu counties against invading Meru farms.
