Softball Federation of Kenya secretary general, Francis Karugu confirmed the new development that is geared to strengthening the two sports in the region. The tri-nation tournament will bring together Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya.

“Uganda and Tanzania expressed interest in the regional show and we undertook to effect the initiative. The two sports are still young in East Africa and this is an initiative to grow the game as we seek to competitively compete at the world stage,” intimated Karugu, noting that Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia and South Sudan may be incorporated in the games.

Meanwhile, 68 men and women softball players have started non-residential training at the JKUAT. National women’s softball team assistant coach Peter Anyanzwa said they will be trimming the two sides down until they remain with the last 30 best ( 15 men and 15 women) to be fielde.
