Invest in modern machines to compete – print sector urged

The Star (Kenya) - - News Business -

Lack of updated technical expertise in the printing industry poses a challenge as the sector strives to compete with latest global trends, a conference heard yesterday. The chairman of Converters and Printing Association of Kenya Mohan Krishnaswami said local vocational institutes use obsolete machines. “The industry can buy the latest machines running on high-end technology. But when there is no human expertise to run these machines, it is very frustrating to us. Today, it is very expensive to train print technicians because they must be graduates with knowledge in IT, as compared to the past when machines could operate for years without change,” he said.
