Mom­basa teacher Mun­yika bags Sh10m in Lotto draw

Mom­basa teacher Rachel Mun­yika is the lat­est mil­lion­aire in town af­ter bagging a Sh10 mil­lion jack-pot in Lotto’s Mashu­jaa Day Power-draw. “I am still over­whelmed. All I can do right now is thank God for his bless­ings,” she said. Mun­yika, 34, in­di­cated she would set up a small busi­ness to en­able her earn some in­come with her win­nings. The mother of two also har­bours dreams of par­tic­i­pat­ing in the lo­cal real-es­tate in­dus­try.

“I was not ex­pect­ing to win this large amount of money but now that I have, my plan is to try my hand at a re­tail busi­ness that can sus­tain me fi­nan­cially in the short-term,” she added. “Ul­ti­mately, I’d like to in­vest in land and build some rental houses be­cause I am con­fi­dent that it is a good long-term in­vest­ment,” she said.

The draw pro­duced a to­tal of 20,920 win­ners. Other lucky win­ners dur­ing the draw were—Davis Oyamo, who won Sh75,000 and Peter Gikonyo, Leah Mugambi, Rueben Mose, David Kanyuira, Thomas Charles, Bernard Maina and De­nis Ki­mathi, who won Sh50,000 each.
