The Media Council of Kenya yesterday launched a new curriculum for colleges offering diploma-level courses in journalism. The curriculum and accreditation manual will streamline and standardise training. and allows students who have graduated from accredited colleges to pursue degree courses. CEO Harun Mwangi said the current curriculum has been out of tune with reality, as it does not respond to the needs of the media industry, the dynamics in society and the quality of professionalism. He said the new curriculum is solid enough to be applied in diploma training. Mwangi said the Council is currently in final consultations with the Kenya National Examinations Council to administer the first national exams under the curriculum.
