Elec­tion fair­ness will start with IEBC panel, says Maraga

Chief Jus­tice David Maraga yes­ter­day chal­lenged the team se­lect­ing elec­toral com­mis­sion­ers to look for cred­i­ble of­fi­cials to en­sure fair­ness in next year’s gen­eral elec­tion. He said the team should present com­mis­sion­ers who will be ac­cept­able. Maraga spoke af­ter swear­ing in Dr Mo­han Lumba to rep­re­sent the Hindu com­mu­nity in the panel. Lumba is re­plac­ing Ra­jesh Rawal af­ter he made a last-minute with­drawal from the panel last week. When Maraga took of­fice, his first task was to swear in lawyers Evans Monari, Mary Ki­gen, Jus­tice Tom Mba­luto (Rtd), Ber­nadette Musundi, Rev Peter Karanja, Ab­dul­gha­fur ElBu­saidy and Bishop David Oginde into the se­lec­tion panel.
