Election fairness will start with IEBC panel, says Maraga
Chief Justice David Maraga yesterday challenged the team selecting electoral commissioners to look for credible officials to ensure fairness in next year’s general election. He said the team should present commissioners who will be acceptable. Maraga spoke after swearing in Dr Mohan Lumba to represent the Hindu community in the panel. Lumba is replacing Rajesh Rawal after he made a last-minute withdrawal from the panel last week. When Maraga took office, his first task was to swear in lawyers Evans Monari, Mary Kigen, Justice Tom Mbaluto (Rtd), Bernadette Musundi, Rev Peter Karanja, Abdulghafur ElBusaidy and Bishop David Oginde into the selection panel.
