Wabukala bid to be EACC boss will taint his image

The Star (Kenya) - - News -

The search for the next chairperson of the troubled Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission is underway. One of the shortlisted candidates is retired Anglican Archbishop Eliud Wabukala. I am worried for his reputation, especially when he gets this job.The commission has undergone numerous challenges with the subsequent bosses being forced out, sometimes following excess pressure from external quarters. The latest casualty is Philip Kinisu, who had succeeded Mumo Matemu. Unfortunately, our leaders are not ready to fight corruption and that is why any chairperson who comes on board with new policies is thrown out as soon as he settles in the office. That might not be different for Wabukala. It is on record that a number of politicians, especially from Bungoma have endorsed him. This is why I am worried that this might be a scheme to taint his otherwise good image, if take up the post.
