Kabogo hands over Sh5 million cooler to sacco
Kiambu Governor William Kabogo (pictured) handed over a Sh5 million milk cooler and a pasteuriser to the Githobokoni Dairy Farmers’ Society last Friday.
He was accompanied by Agriculture executive Monicah Waiganjo. The cooler’s capacity is 2,000 litres. Farmers have urged the county to provide more coolers. Farmer James Waweru from Gatundu North subcounty said the sector requires government support to realise maximum profits. He said many farmers are now scrambling to join the Githobokoni Dairy Farmers’ Society with the new cooler, but it can only hold milk from about 200 people. “The county government has supported a lot of societies to acquire milk coolers. Farmers who are members work hard to increase their supply. Each and every person wants to be somewhere his or her property is safe,” Waweru said. Farmer Joan Wairimu praised Kabogo for supporting the sector.
