Kandara MP Alice Wahome has accused Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wairia of disrespecting residents by failing to answer audit queries.

The county chief appeared before the Public Accounts and Investments Committee last week .

Wahome said Wairia’s “hostility” shows he is trying to evade accounting for public funds.

She spoke at Kirunguru Primary School in Kandara town on Friday, when commissioning classrooms refurbished by the Constituency Development Fund. Wahome also presented a Sh300,000 cheque to Kirunguru Secondary School for the completion of the science laboratory.

“No one has called him a thief. But his temper when asked questions on the audit queries shows he is hiding something. Murang’a residents are demanding answers. He should understand that fighting the Senate won’t leave him off the hook because we will see to it that he responds to all queries,” she said.
