Spurs brush off Foxes in stalemate

The Star (Kenya) - - Sports - OLIVER TODD/

“Who came third in a two-horse race?” the Leicester City fans crowed. The answer — if you don’t remember last season — is “Tottenham Hotspur”, minus an expletive.

It’s a bit of a laugh for them, but Spurs must be scared the scarring of last season could come back to haunt them again.

They were comfortably better than the champions at White Hart Lane on Saturday in the 1-1 draw but this proved to be a fifth successive game without a win.

If Leicester have regressed from the shock outfit that took home the title last season, what can you say of Tottenham on this evidence? One thing is for sure: They need Harry Kane back, quickly.

Mauricio Pochettino estimates his star forward will be back for the trip to Arsenal next week and it will be a welcome return. Vincent Janssen just does not offer quite the same threat. The Dutchman scored here but it was again from the penalty spot. Otherwise his threat was muted by a Leicester backline who have looked fragile almost everywhere else they have been to in the Premier League this season.
