Sh5.3 billion Mafya House saga can derail Vision 2030
Launched in 2008, Vision 2030 is the country’s development blueprint. It aims to create a globally competitive and prosperous country, providing high quality life for all its citizens. The Vision aspires to transform Kenya into a newly industrialised middle-income county by the year 2030. The main aim of the economic sector was or is to maintain a sustained economic growth of 10 per cent per annum in the next 20 years (we now have 14 years remaining). However, corruption is obviously likely to derail the implementation and the achievement of Vision 2030. The recent news of loss of Sh5.3 billion in the ministry of Health is very disturbing. We are aware that the sector has been facing financial challenges as it seeks to improve healthcare.. Thousands are suffering in hospitals due to lack of medicine, modern equipment and medics. Such cases will only rerail efforts to achieve Vision 2030.
