Dur­ing the Ju­bilee Party launch, Pres­i­dent Uhuru Keny­atta failed to name in­terim of­fi­cials of the new out­fit, lend­ing cre­dence to re­ports of in­tense in­fight­ing over the slots in the rul­ing party. Al­ready, two ri­val fac­tions of Ju­bilee Party clashed on Oc­to­ber 15 dur­ing a meet­ing that ended pre­ma­turely at the for­mer TNA of­fice in Nakuru. The strug­gle to con­trol Ju­bilee Party af­fairs started two months ago in Nakuru af­ter politi­cians and as­pi­rants started po­si­tion­ing them­selves as the party’s point men in the re­gion. Both groups ac­cused each other of at­tempt­ing to hi­jack the party to in­flu­ence nom­i­na­tions.
