Don’t impose candidate on Coast region voters, MP Awiti tells Cord co-principals

The Star (Kenya) - - Counties Coast -

Nyali MP Hezron Awiti urged Cord co-principals to allow voters themselves to decide the best candidate for Mombasa governor.

He said on Saturday some leaders, who were imposed on people, have stifled development. Awiti urged Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) and Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya) to let democracy prevail. He expressed confidence he will be elected because “he is best placed to steer the county to greater heights.”

Awiti spoke in Mamaba Village to Luhya leaders from all the six Mombasa constituencies. He said the county leadership needs to be negotiated by communities to ensure an all-inclusive administration. Awiti said the current administration has discriminated against some communities. He urged voters to consider hopefuls’ credibility.
