A matatu company has filed a suit seeking police protection following harassment of its members’ buses by Ummoinner Sacco.

Risen Company Ltd claims Mwamba, Ummoinner and Utimo saccos, City Tram Ltd and Marvellous Shuttle Ltd have hired goons to attack its members’ buses on Ronald Ngala Street. Risen says it cannot, without the protection of police, operate their vehicles on the Jogoo Road-UmojaKomarock route. Risen director Isaac Karanja said his buses and vans were attacked on October 26 and 30. He said the buses’ windshields were broken and doors barricaded by hooligans hired by Umoinner and Utmo saccos at Joska and Ronald Ngala. Risen further seeks to have the police chiefs at Central and Buru Buru police stations compelled to conclude investigations.
