RISING DEBTS IN COUNTIES
In March the Senate urged the county governments to control rising debt. Controller of Budget Agnes Adhiambo revealed the counties have cumulative debt of Sh37.46 billion. The amount included Sh9.25 billion for recurrent expenditure and Sh28.21 billion for development. Only Busia county had no pending bills, while Tana River has not declared its debt. The disclosure was contained in a report tabled in the Senate by the Finance Committee.
