Man who shot and violently robbed girl in Korogocho slum sentenced to death
A 30-year-old man who shot a girl in Korogocho slum and stole from her four years ago has been sentenced to death. Danson Mwangi was found guilty of violently robbing 17-year-old Ifra Ibrahim. He appeared before principal magistrate Steven Jalang’o. The court heard that Mwangi robbed Ibrahim of a mobile phone and weaves, all worth Sh7,750 on April 15, 2012, in Kasarani. He shot Ibrahim in the neck before vanishing in to the nearby estates. Mwangi hid for two years before he was arrested and charged. Ibrahim was treated at the Kenyatta National Hospital. While her condition improved, her voice has not been restored since then because of a bullet lodged in her neck. Ibrahim’s mother told the court she was standing near a playground at 1pm, when she spotted Mwangi, well-known in the estate, struggling with her daughter. She said she heard a gunshot then saw her daughter on the ground.
