Warrant of arrest issued for trader Akinyi, three co-accused for skipping hearing
A Kibera court has issued a warrant of arrest for businesswoman Joyce Akinyi and her co-accused for skipping court. Akinyi failed to appear yesterday for the hearing of a case in which she is charged with trafficking in Sh94,800 heroin. She is charged alongside John Otieno, Risper Ochieng and Kevin Oduor, who are accused of trafficking in heroin worth more than Sh5 million. It is alleged they committed the offence on March 25 last year at Dam II estate, Lang’ata. Akinyi was arrested at her Deep West club in Nairobi West, while her co-accused were arrested in Dam II estate the same day. The police consolidated the cases because they were related. Akinyi was once linked to suspected drug trafficker Anthony Chinedu, who was deported to Nigeria by the Kenyan government. Before his deportation, the two were involved in public altercation. The case will be mentioned on November 24.
