Youths storm police station to free suspect
More than 60 youths armed with iron rods, planks of wood and stones yesterday stormed Kilome police station in Kilungu and demanded the release of their colleague, who was arrested on Wednesday and allegedly in possession of several rolls of bhang. Police boss Zacharia Bitok said police arrested 10 of the youths. He said they will be arraigned in court after investigations. Bitok said the group blocked the Nunguni-Salama road before they stormed the police station at 8.30am. During the 30-minute drama, more than eight suspects disappeared and police are looking for them. Nobody was injured. The police chief cautioned the youth against taking the law into their hands, instead of following the laiddown procedures.
