Hunt for owner of godown where stolen lorry found
Police in Nairobi are hunting for a businessman in whose compound a stolen truck was found.
Head of Special Crimes Prevention Unit Noah Katumo said they have obtained an arrest warrant for James Kioi, said to own a godown in Ruai, where the lorry was found.
The lorry was reported stolen while transporting cement worth Sh135,000 to Nyandarua last Friday. It was tracked to the compound a day later.
Katumo said police sealed off a second godown in Chokaa, also said to be owned by Kioi. Detectives found a spirits manufacturing plant.
Three of Kioi’s workers were found in the two yards. Last evening, police called in KRA officers after it emerged some of the brands manufactured in the godown could be fake and unregistered.
