Lobbies want President Uhuru to resign

The Star (Kenya) - - News General -

Civil groups plan on ejecting President Uhuru Kenyatta from power before his term ends — allegedly for abetting graft.

Haki Africa, Team Courage, Coast Network and Commission for Human Rights and Justice want Uhuru to voluntarily step down before a revolt is launched.

They said there is going to be mass protests from now till the next poll to force Uhuru out of office.

Besides that, the lobbies will push Parliament to ensure it impeaches the President on grounds that he has failed to tackle corruption heists. If the two strategies fail, the groups have said they will turn to citizens to make Uhuru a oneterm President.

They said the National Intelligence Service is aware of grand scams and is covering up.

The activists addressed the press on Sunday at the Haki Africa offices in Mombasa town.

“We will ensure Uhuru leaves office if he fails to resign,” Boniface Mwangi of Team Courage said.
