Raila’s comments suggest trouble if he loses in 2017

The Star (Kenya) - - Voices -

As an observer, this is not the first time I am getting concerned with Raila Odinga’s remarks. For those who have been following his narratives ever since he lost in 2013, I am sure they will agree that he has, on several occasions, made utterances that instil fear and create political uncertainties. A month ago, Raila was quoted saying,” I am calling on all Kenyans from Mandera, Isiolo, Samburu, Kajiado and elsewhere in Kenya to arm themselves with spears, arrows and other weapons to go to Nairobi and remove [Issack] Hassan’s team from office.” A few days ago when he addressed ODM members at the Bomas of Kenya to ratify the expulsions of party rebels, he said, “As the opposition coalition, we have no doubt that we will root out Jubilee from power in 2017”. If this does not happen, he will definitely say the election was rigged. This is creating trouble.
