Charge cops who beat up youths in Nyeri county
At the weekend, social media sites were awash with pictures of police officers beating up youths in Nyeri. This was during Deputy President William Ruto’s visit at Gatitu Secondary School. According to media reports, 11 youths were arrested and later released unconditionally. This reminds us of the brutality with which police handled the anti-IEBC demonstrators not long ago. These officers must be brought to book. This is an abuse of human rights and also raises concerns about police conduct during and after the general election.
