Clerics urged to reject ill-gotten offerings
Clerics must not allow themselves to be manipulated by corrupt politicians who make huge financial offerings to ensure their political support, a cleric has said.
Speaking in Garissa on Sunday during the 17th anniversary of the Redeemed Church, apostle Peter Kathalu said leaders with ill-gotten wealth try to influence clericks. They want them to persuade their followers to vote for them.
Kathalu said it’s immoral to make of- ferings of stolen wealth to the church and said clerics should reject them.
“The proceeds from corrupt dealings are bringing the church down. We should stick to the Bible teachings and nothing less,” he said.
He urged Christians to scrutinise the values and conduct of leaders they elect to represent them.
“Don’t vote for parties. Vote for leaders,” he said.
