Nzoia hit Polos to restore 16-point lead on standings
Nzoia United beat Palos 2-1 to restore a 16-point lead in the National Super League and confirm their promotion to the Kenya Premier League.
In the match that was played at Sudi grounds in Bungoma, Moven Otinya gave Palos the lead before Masita Masuta and Patrick Oluoma scored for Nzoia to maintain their unbeaten home record.
Nzoia have 82 points, 16 more than second placed Kericho Zoo, whose promotion fight was dealt a major blow after falling 2-1 to Nakumatt. Zoo remain second on the log with 11 points with Kariobangi Sharks third with 65 points after beating relegation-threatened Shabana 3-0.
Nakumatt are fourth also on 65 points but Kariobangi have a better goal difference with a game in hand. Fifth-placed Vihiga United kept their hopes of promotion alive after a narrow 1-0 win over Bidco United.
In other matches played over the weekend, Nairobi Stima defeated St. Joseph’s 2-0 as former Kenya Premier League side KCD saw off Ligi Ndogo 2-1.
Wazito beat Agro Chemicals 4-2 as Nakuru All Stars battled to a barren draw against Oserian. Kenya Police defeated Mosca 3-1 in another encounter played over the weekend.
Tomorrow, Kariobangi will be in action against Agro Chemicals at Furaha grounds while at Camp Toyoyo, it will be a battle between former KPL sides KCB and Nakuru All Stars.
