Nzoia hit Po­los to re­store 16-point lead on standings

Nzoia United beat Pa­los 2-1 to re­store a 16-point lead in the Na­tional Su­per League and con­firm their pro­mo­tion to the Kenya Pre­mier League.

In the match that was played at Sudi grounds in Bun­goma, Moven Otinya gave Pa­los the lead be­fore Ma­sita Ma­suta and Pa­trick Olu­oma scored for Nzoia to main­tain their un­beaten home record.

Nzoia have 82 points, 16 more than sec­ond placed Keri­cho Zoo, whose pro­mo­tion fight was dealt a ma­jor blow af­ter fall­ing 2-1 to Naku­matt. Zoo re­main sec­ond on the log with 11 points with Kar­i­obangi Sharks third with 65 points af­ter beat­ing rel­e­ga­tion-threat­ened Sha­bana 3-0.

Naku­matt are fourth also on 65 points but Kar­i­obangi have a bet­ter goal dif­fer­ence with a game in hand. Fifth-placed Vi­higa United kept their hopes of pro­mo­tion alive af­ter a nar­row 1-0 win over Bidco United.

In other matches played over the week­end, Nairobi Stima de­feated St. Joseph’s 2-0 as for­mer Kenya Pre­mier League side KCD saw off Ligi Ndogo 2-1.

Waz­ito beat Agro Chem­i­cals 4-2 as Nakuru All Stars bat­tled to a bar­ren draw against Ose­rian. Kenya Po­lice de­feated Mosca 3-1 in an­other en­counter played over the week­end.

To­mor­row, Kar­i­obangi will be in ac­tion against Agro Chem­i­cals at Fu­raha grounds while at Camp Toy­oyo, it will be a bat­tle be­tween for­mer KPL sides KCB and Nakuru All Stars.
