IEBC extends deadline to next week for bids to supply electoral materials

The IEBC has pushed the deadline for suppliers to bid for multimillion-shilling tenders for the supply of election materials to November 17.

The deadline for the bids for materials, including unbreakable and fire-resistant ballot boxes, was supposed to be this morning.

The IEBC wants to buy 106,000 transparent ballot boxes for additional polling stations, and replace faulty and broken ones.

The IEBC said the boxes should be manufactured from plastic that withstands exposure to ultraviolet radiation.

The boxes should not trap the ballot papers when emptied. The IEBC has also invited tenders for security seals, tamper-proof envelopes marked “IEBC Confidential Material” and indelible marker pens.
