Punish police officers who assaulted our 2 officials, Mombasa lawyer tells Boinnet
Mombasa county has demanded Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet punish some officers for assaulting its officials. Attorney Mtalaki Mwashimba wants inspector Joseph Kinuthia and other police officers, not named, to be charged, saying they took orders from a civilian. “The alleged proprietor Jabez Oduor, in the company of police officers, assaulted and verbally abused two county staff, Idris Abdirahman and Irene Wanjiru,” he said in a letter dated November 7. The attorney referred to a scuffle that broke out on Sunday in Nyali over a disputed plot. County askaris tried to demolish its perimeter wall but were confronted e by police. Kongowea MCA Oduor says the plot belongs to him. The police said they were protecting property involved in a lawsuit, enforcing a court order, barring trespassing, excavation and digging.
