Kisumu fund reshuf­fle af­ter Sh105m mess

Ward De­vel­op­ment Fund Com­mit­tee re­duced from 17 to 11 mem­bers

The Kisumu as­sem­bly has re­duced the mem­ber­ship and re­con­sti­tuted the Ward De­vel­op­ment Fund Com­mit­tee fol­low­ing al­leged mis­use of Sh105 mil­lion.

The com­mit­tee now is com­prised of 11 mem­bers, down from 17, in line with the Ward Act.

The mem­bers are Ag­grey Ogosi (East Seme), Gabriel Ochieng (Kon­dele), Mau­rice Aloo (Ahero), Jane Omollo (nom­i­nated), Sa­muel Ong’ow (Ma­sogo-Nyang’oma), Maina Koko (North Nyakach), Nereah Okombo (Many­atta B), Sa­muel Om­bogo (North West Kisumu), Bob Ndolo (nom­i­nated) , Philip Anayo (Mil­i­mani-Mar­ket) and Caro­line Owen (Kisumu North).

Speaker Ann Adul di­rected the re­con­sti­tu­tion on Oc­to­ber 25 af­ter MCAs raised the flag about the bloated panel.

The re­port con­tain­ing the list of new mem­bers was tabled by ma­jor­ity leader Mar­lin Olero on Tues­day and adopted.

Dur­ing the de­bate, MCAs from the ma­jor­ity and mi­nor­ity par­ties dif­fered over the names on the list. The mi­nor­ity party, led by whip Ed­win Anayo, ac­cus­ing the ma­jor­ity of tam­per­ing with the list.

“One name has been deleted from the list pro­posed by the mi­nor­ity and we will not al­low this,” he said. Adul warned mem­bers against dis­cussing party mat­ters in the as­sem­bly and urged them to stick to the re­port.
