Ward Development Fund Committee reduced from 17 to 11 members
The Kisumu assembly has reduced the membership and reconstituted the Ward Development Fund Committee following alleged misuse of Sh105 million.
The committee now is comprised of 11 members, down from 17, in line with the Ward Act.
The members are Aggrey Ogosi (East Seme), Gabriel Ochieng (Kondele), Maurice Aloo (Ahero), Jane Omollo (nominated), Samuel Ong’ow (Masogo-Nyang’oma), Maina Koko (North Nyakach), Nereah Okombo (Manyatta B), Samuel Ombogo (North West Kisumu), Bob Ndolo (nominated) , Philip Anayo (Milimani-Market) and Caroline Owen (Kisumu North).
Speaker Ann Adul directed the reconstitution on October 25 after MCAs raised the flag about the bloated panel.
The report containing the list of new members was tabled by majority leader Marlin Olero on Tuesday and adopted.
During the debate, MCAs from the majority and minority parties differed over the names on the list. The minority party, led by whip Edwin Anayo, accusing the majority of tampering with the list.
“One name has been deleted from the list proposed by the minority and we will not allow this,” he said. Adul warned members against discussing party matters in the assembly and urged them to stick to the report.
