DRUGS NEED TO BE APPROVED
More than 60 people were arrested in August for operating chemists and pharmacies without licences. The Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board said most of them are not registered and staff have no training in handling drugs. Senior Inspector for Drugs Julius Kalai said drugs and premises must be approved and operators licensed. Pharmacies are required to prominently display a banner with the Health ministry’s safety code and seal of approval. The code shows whether the pharmacy is properly registered.
