Uhuru Cen­tral Rift cam­paign team meets to strate­gise

Pres­i­dent Uhuru Keny­atta cam­paign team in the Cen­tral Rift has got­ten down to work. Nakuru speaker Su­san Ki­hika chaired a meet­ing of the re­gion’s top lead­ers on Wed­nes­day.

Ki­hika was ap­pointed last week dur­ing the first Ju­bilee Party Na­tional Govern­ing Coun­cil meet­ing. The Cen­tral Rift com­prises Laikipia, Baringo and Nakuru coun­ties.

Present were Nakuru Gov­er­nor Kin­uthia Mbugua, Deputy Gov­er­nor Joseph Ruto, MPs and sen­a­tors. “It was a brief­ing meet­ing re­gard­ing the Ju­bilee Party. Ki­hika will lead an­other meet­ing to­day (Fri­day) with the Ju­bilee MCAs. On [Novem­ber] 18, she’ll meet all the aspi­rants in Nakuru county,” Ruto said.

He said the meet­ing was to strate­gise on how to start Uhuru’s re­elec­tion cam­paign. Kanu’s Moses Che­boi of Kure­soi North con­stituency turned up for the meet­ing to­gether with ODM’s Sa­muel Arama (Nakuru Town West MP).

Ba­hati MP Ki­mani Ngun­jiri, who has been at log­ger­heads with Ki­hika, made a pro-forma ap­pear­ance.

Sen­a­tors present were James Mun­gai, Liza Chelule, Martha Wan­gari and Paul Njoroge. Woman rep­re­sen­ta­tive Mary Mbugua at­tended the meet­ing.
