Uhuru Central Rift campaign team meets to strategise
President Uhuru Kenyatta campaign team in the Central Rift has gotten down to work. Nakuru speaker Susan Kihika chaired a meeting of the region’s top leaders on Wednesday.
Kihika was appointed last week during the first Jubilee Party National Governing Council meeting. The Central Rift comprises Laikipia, Baringo and Nakuru counties.
Present were Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua, Deputy Governor Joseph Ruto, MPs and senators. “It was a briefing meeting regarding the Jubilee Party. Kihika will lead another meeting today (Friday) with the Jubilee MCAs. On [November] 18, she’ll meet all the aspirants in Nakuru county,” Ruto said.
He said the meeting was to strategise on how to start Uhuru’s reelection campaign. Kanu’s Moses Cheboi of Kuresoi North constituency turned up for the meeting together with ODM’s Samuel Arama (Nakuru Town West MP).
Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri, who has been at loggerheads with Kihika, made a pro-forma appearance.
Senators present were James Mungai, Liza Chelule, Martha Wangari and Paul Njoroge. Woman representative Mary Mbugua attended the meeting.
