Teams ready to battle in Kenya Cup II second-round kicks off tomorrow
RAYMOND OTIENO/ Former Kenya Cup side, Thika and Kisumu are set to play their first matches tomorrow as the Kenya Cup II enters match Day 2. Six more matches have been lined up for the day after a high paced first round of the league. The two sides missed action during the first round after their opponents failed to turn up.
KeMU and Bungoma Sharks asked for postponements due to financial problems and low player turnout respectively. Thika will open their campaign away against second-placed Mombasa Club. Both sides had a short stint at the Kenya Cup but were relegated due to their constant losses in the league. Kisumu play host to fifth-placed Moi University at Mamboleo Showground.
Kisumu team manager Obiet Kizito is, however, worried that Moi University may not show up. Should they fail, Kisumu will face USIU on November 19 in their third league match, having not played the first two matches. League leaders Catholic Monks hope to extend their lead as they take on JKUAT Cougars in Juja while fourth-placed University of Eldoret will be the guests of sixth- placed USIU.
