State should not take back the rural roads function
The renewed opposition by the governors to reclassifying roads should be taken seriously. Council of Governors vice chairman John Mruttu has said proposals to rename rural roads as secondary national trunk roads is an attempt to take them back to the national government. This is not the first time governors are raising questions about roads. Given that the scandals Kenya has had in the past and as recently as this year, have happened in the national government, the governors have reason to worry about Nairobi taking back the rural roads function.
