Thugs raid Makueni shops, kill 2 guards
They stole gas cylinders worth Sh100,000
Armed thugs on Friday raided several shops in Sultan Hamud town, Makueni county, killing watchmen and injuring another one.
One died on the spot, while the other died at the Kenyatta National Hospital. The injured watchmen sustained serious panga wounds to their heads.
The thugs carted away gas cylinders worth Sh100,000. The injured watchmen were taken to the Sultan Hamud Subcounty Hospital, before being referred to the Kenyatta National Hospital.
Mukaa police boss Andrew Mbogo said they have not arrested any suspect.
He appealed to residents for information that could lead to the arrest of the criminals. “We have a list and we are sure of arresting those involved in the robbery,” Mbogo said.
Meanwhile, the Kitui government has developed a four-year comprehensive HIV-Aids strategic plan to ensure 90 per cent access to comprehensive care, treatment and preventive services.
The plan for 2015-19 was launched by Governor Julius Malombe last Thursday at Vista Gardens in Kitui town.
The governor said it was customised to suit the Kitui scenario.
Malombe said the plan is designed to help identify 90 per cent of the people living with HIV-Aids in Kitui and ensure they access healthcare and treatment.
He said Kitui has 21,092 people living with HIV-Aids, of whom 2,792 are children.
“The implementation of the strategic plan will be guided by seven strategic pillars that are geared towards a county free of new HIV-Aids infections and stigma,” the governor said.
