Serve residents, MP tells Homa Bay reps

The Star (Kenya) - - Counties Nyanza -

Kasipul MP Oyugi Magwanga has said graft has led to poor service delivery in Homa Bay county.

“It is unfortunate residents die of preventable diseases and complications because money meant for drugs is looted,” he said. Magwanga was reacting following the death of a pregnant woman at the Homa Bay County Referral Hospital on Friday after complications.

Health executive Lawrence Oteng’ said the woman had to be referred from another hospital due to a shortage of medics in the maternity wing.

Last Friday, a fight allegedly broke out among some MCAs over a Sh4million handout. Magwanga faulted the leaders for pursuing personal interests at the expense of service.

He said those looting public funds should be investigated and charged. “The fight for looted money shows those involved are being hunted for dirty deals,” Magwanga said.
