APEX COURT FALLS BELOW 5-JUDGE MINIMUM
Mid this year, the Supreme Court fell below the five-judge bench constitutional minimum to hear cases. That followed the retirement of Maraga’s predecessor Willy Mutunga. The court also was depleted by the forced retirement of former Deputy Chief Justice Kalpana Rawal and Supreme Court judge Philip Tunoi. Rawal and Tunoi had readed the 70 years retirement age. Chief Justice David Maraga yesterday said Kenyans should not expect a disjointed Supreme Court.
