Kenya seeks new market for coffee exports in Estonia
Kenya is looking to expand its coffee exports to Estonia. Trade between the two countries stood at an estimated Sh1.83 billion ($18 million) in 2015, with exports to the northern Europe nation at Sh140 million ($1.38 million) against imports of Sh1.69 billion ($16.57 million). Coffee, Kenya’s third major export, posted a 30 per cent increase in production, which saw the earnings rise to Sh21 billion in 2015. “In Estonia, coffee sector is very lucrative. Coffee drinking is very popular in Estonia, especially as the lifestyles of Estonian consumers are busy and the invigorating effect of coffee is appreciated,” said Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry chief executive Matanda Wabuyele during the Kenya-Estonia Business Forum in Nairobi yesterday.
