Curbing road accidents, indiscipline and introduction of high-capacity buses in major towns will be discussed at the Matatus Owners Association delegates’ conference.

The two-day meeting will be held in Nairobi today and tomorrow.

Chairman Simon Kimutai told the press at KICC yesterday they will review road safety regulations.

“We need to reduce road carnage and this requires not only strengthening the regulations, but also training our crew and sensitising the public,” he said.

Kimutai said the association will partner with automobile companies, NTSA and NYS to change the culture of the matatu operators and the public’s perception of them.

Kimutai said the Bus Rapid Transport system will reduce traffic jams in major towns.
