The national gov­ern­ment has set aside Sh600 mil­lion, through the Kenya Meat Com­mis­sion, to buy ema­ci­ated an­i­mals from pas­toral­ist com­mu­ni­ties in Man­dera. National Assem­bly Agri­cul­ture, Live­stock and Co­op­er­a­tives Com­mit­tee chair­man Adan Noor yes­ter­day said the move aims to re­duce the ef­fects of drought. Speak­ing in Tak­aba, the Man­dera North MP said, “Live­stock keep­ing is the main liveli­hood . We will buy live­stock to en­sure our peo­ple don’t suffer.”
