Kanu will field a presidential candidate in 2022, nominated Senator Zipporah Kittony has said.

She said the party will back President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reelection in 2017, but is grooming its candidate for 2022. Kittony spoke during a fundraiser at Kituro in Baringo Central. She said the party is strong and has prepared itself to win many Senate and governor seats. “Kanu is vibrant. We have put strategies in place that will see us grab more political positions,” Kittony said, adding the party has become more popular.

She warned those who think the Independence party is dead will be shocked to see it regain its former glory. Kittony said Kanu is more popular in Baringo than the Jubilee Party. She accused the Jubilee administration of rampant corruption. Kittony urged Baringo leaders to join Kanu or else prepare to be voted out. She asked, “Why should you abandon your homegrown party and run after alien parties, which will leave you desolate?”
