NYANZA MATATU OWNERS SAID THEY LOSE SH72 MILLION
Last month, matatu operators in Nyanza threatened to hold protests against the high number of roadblocks. Operators term the roadblocks as “corruption hotspots’. They urged IG Joseph Boinnet to ensure police uniforms do not have pockets to curb corruption. Matatu Owners Association chairperson Bob Andala said there are roadblocks at least every five kilometres in Nyanza. He said they part with at least Sh100 at every roadblock.“We lose as much as Sh72 million monthly on one route,” he said.
