Former NYS boss denies abuse of office
Former National Youth Service deputy director general Clare Lwali was granted Sh600,000 bail yesterday in a case in which she is charged with fraud.
She was granted an alternative Sh1 million bond.
Lwali was arraigned before an anti-corruption court facing charges of abuse of office and wilful failure to comply with the procurement laws. She denied the charges. The prosecution says she used her office to improperly confer a benefit on Naro Moru River Lodge without the approval of the tender committee. The Sh4,476,000 commitment for accommodation and conference facilities was beyond the limit in law, the court heard.
The case will be mentioned on November 29.
