Two deny bribing to graduate
Two students from Catholic University of Eastern Africa were charged yesterday with offering a Sh820,000 bribe to a deputy registrar so their names could be placed in the graduation list. Jecinta Mugure and Joan Wanjiru denied offering Caleb Wafula a Sh500,000 on October 27 at Catholic University main campus in Nairobi, jointly with others not before the court. They wanted to be allowed to graduate on October 28 with a bachelors degree in Law, which they do not qualify for. Mugure and Wanjiru were each granted Sh300,000 bond with an alternative bail of Sh50,000. The hearing is set for January 11.
