Two deny brib­ing to grad­u­ate

Two stu­dents from Catholic Univer­sity of East­ern Africa were charged yes­ter­day with of­fer­ing a Sh820,000 bribe to a deputy regis­trar so their names could be placed in the grad­u­a­tion list. Jecinta Mugure and Joan Wan­jiru de­nied of­fer­ing Caleb Wa­fula a Sh500,000 on Oc­to­ber 27 at Catholic Univer­sity main cam­pus in Nairobi, jointly with oth­ers not be­fore the court. They wanted to be al­lowed to grad­u­ate on Oc­to­ber 28 with a bach­e­lors de­gree in Law, which they do not qual­ify for. Mugure and Wan­jiru were each granted Sh300,000 bond with an al­ter­na­tive bail of Sh50,000. The hear­ing is set for Jan­uary 11.
