DOCTORS WENT ON A GO-SLOW
In September, doctors went on strike, demanding six months’ salary arrears. This paralysed services at public hospitals run by the county. The doctors suspended the strike last month, following an order by the Industrial court. Union secretary general Thuranira Kaugiria said it was ironical for Ayisi to sign an affidavit under oath claiming to have addressed all their needs. The doctors said the county owed them Sh34 million. A report released early this month attributed the frequent strikes to the lack of guidelines to manage health workers.
