Attend sessions or be named, shamed, Bomet MCAs told
Bomet MCAs who skip house sittings will be named and shamed on the county’s website, speaker Geoffrey Kipngetich(pictured) said yesterday.
He said many MCAs skip sessions for no good reason. Kipngetich said an attendance list for the last three years will be published.
“The only way we can make members serious about their duties is by cracking the whip. The public can have a look at the list. We will no longer entertain members who dodge sessions,” he said.
Kipngetich said many MCAs skip sessions to attend to “private missions” without regard for the house standing orders.
The Bomet assembly amended its standing orders and changed sittings from three times a week to two consecutive days – Tuesdays and Wednesdays every week.
Kipngetich told MCAs they are dutybound to attend to all house business, including committee meetings.
“History will judge you harshly if you fail to achieve set targets. This is the first assembly under the new constitution,” he said.
