Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has set up camp in Kitui county this week to popularise his Maendeleo Chap Chap party.

On Monday, he declared he will support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reelection bid. Mutua said his party will field candidates for all other posts.

“The support I am receiving from aspirants is overwhelming,” he said. Mutua assured aspirants they will receive financial support. He will visit all six subcounties in Kitui. Mutua held a question and answer forum with residents and leaders of Ikutha ward and was hosted by Narc MCA Hussein Mwandia. He said, “I have shared my personal story of growing up in a poor city slum. This story is no different from that of many children growing up in rural Kenya. I want to transform the county.”

Mutua said it is deplorable some residents still lack clean drinking water, have poor health systems and bad roads.

“We need to change the way we do things. We must pursue goals that will increase food production for domestic us, and improve the quality of education,” he said.
