Soo shakes off strong field to win Scott Cup at Kericho Golf Club
Leonard Soo amassed 39 points made to win the Scott Cup tournament over the weekend at Kericho Club. Soo posted 22 points in the first nine and 17 second to garner the top award. Handicap 18, Soo was followed in the second place by Anthony Korir on 36 points made up of 13 and 23 points respectively while formers Kericho Club captain, Raymond Keter took third position in a three way count-back after tying on 36 stable ford points with Charles Kipngok and Andrew Birir. Jack Melly took sixth position with a total of 34 points. A veteran Kericho golfer Virdee Chadha won first nine award with on 20 points while Edwin Bii clinched the second.
Lornar Kipngok won the ladies’ longerst drive with David Biegon winning the second. Elsewhere, Nicholas Tanui won himself a trip to Japan next year after winning the staff category. The handicap 20 Tanui posted 19 points in the first nine and 15 points in the back nine for a total of 34 stableford points.
Tanui,who is a senior employee at the Finlay’s Company, beat his boss Sammy Kirui to second position. Kirui, who is company’s corporate Affairs director collected a total of 33 points made of 15 and 18 points respectively. Another Finlay’s manager, Chris Birgen took third position in the staff category with company’s MD Simon Hutchison placing fourth.
